Alegria, Edgar D. age 61 of Rockaway Twp., NJ passed away Tuesday February 16, 2021 in the Saint Clare’s Hospital Denville Campus following a brief illness. Born in Sao Paulo, Brazil, Edgar came to the United States and had lived briefly in the Iron Bound Section of Newark. He had lived in Wharton before settling into Rockaway Twp. where he has lived many years.
A graduate of the Morris Knolls High School Denville, Edgar was a Heavy Equipment Operator with the Local 825 Operating Engineers Springfield, NJ for over thirty years. A loving and dedicated husband, father, son, brother and friend, Edgar had served many years as a member of the Wharton Volunteer Fire Dept. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and hiking as well as a loyal NY Rangers and Washington Redskins fan.
Edgar was predeceased by his father Orlando Alegria in 2015. He is survived by his beloved wife Kathleen Alegria, his daughters Laura Kristen and her husband Marc Benoit, Sarah Nicole and her husband Michael Orr and Kaitlyn Danielle Alegria. His son Michael Edgar Alegria as well as his mother Leah Alegria, his brothers Luiz and his wife Kim Alegria and Orlando Alegria. Also surviving are his cherished grandchildren Angelina and Colton as well as his nephews Nicholas M. and Carlo T, Christopher M. and Louis P. Alegria and his nieces Elizabeth M. and Anna M. Alegria.
Visitation will be held Sunday Feb. 21, 2021 from 3-6 PM in the direction of the Smith-Taylor-Ruggiero Funeral Home One Baker Ave. (Rt. 46) Dover, NJ. Funeral Services Monday morning 11 AM in the Funeral Home immediatly followed by Entombment Service in the Locust Hill Cemetery Mausoleum Dover, NJ.
