William Henry Ball of Dover, NJ passed away at home peacefully on 12/11/17 after a brief illness at the age 93. Bill was born in Wharton, NJ, and then moved to Dover, NJ. He was the son of the late Floyd and Elizabeth (Dalrymple) Ball. Bill served for over 3 years in The U.S. Navy, WW2.
Bill was predeceased by his wife Elizabeth in 2009, and 7 Brothers and Sisters. Bill quit school in 7th grade to help feed his family and then joined the Navy. He was then employed at Bowman/Dover Oil for over 30 years, then retired at age 80 from Morris County Park Commission tending the grounds at Flanders Valley Golf Course where he never took a sick day in 21 years. Bill enjoyed his time at home with his loving dog Molly, having breakfast daily at Randolph Diner, watching Gun Smoke and Bonanza and spent his afternoons having a few beers with friends and was a lifetime member of the Legion and Moose Club.
Bill was a very proud and strong man, He had a determination to live and fought so hard until the end. I admire his strength and am so very proud of him. It was an honor to be his Niece and I am so thankful to God I was able to care for his needs and to show him how loved he was. I give special thanks to his loving neighbors Mary and Doug, his care givers Lydia and Betty and Compassionate Care Hospice. I honor you, and I love and cherish you Uncle Bill and appreciate the impact you had on my life, You will be deeply missed. Private interment in Union Cemetery, Hackettstown, NJ is being scheduled at the convenience of the family.
