
Banghart, Vera R.
Vera R. (Schott) Banghart, age 89 of Mine Hill, NJ passed away Tuesday, January 10th, 2012 at Saint Claire’s Hospital Dover Campus. Daughter of the late Arthur Albert and Lillian Emma (Haberman) Schott, she was predeceased by her husband, William F. Banghart in 1980.
Vera was a homemaker, a substitute teacher, and as a young girl worked at Picatinny Arsenal during World War II. Vera lived in Flanders before settling in Mine Hill in 1947. She was a 1941 graduate of Roxbury High School. Active in her community, Vera participated in the Mine Hill PTA, the Mine Hill American Legion Post 391; she also volunteered during elections at the election booth in Flanders for many years as well as volunteered at Grey Stone State Hospital. Vera enjoyed camping with her sisters; together they called themselves “The Wandering Widows.” She also loved gardening, butterflies and flowers, playing games, and card night. She was a member of the Church of the Mystic Light in Flanders.
Vera is survived by her sons Ronald W. of Lincoln Park, NJ, David A. of Budd Lake, NJ, and Frederick R. of Mine Hill and her daughter Sheila R. Walker also of Mine Hill. She is also survived by her brother Arthur Schott of Succasunna, NJ, and her sisters Helen Steer of Wharton, NJ and Pauline Robbins of Bangor, PA as well as six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Vera will be held Saturday, January 14th, 2012 at 10:00 AM in the Smith-Taylor-Ruggiero Funeral Home, One Baker Avenue (Route 46) Dover, NJ 07801. Visitation will be held Friday, January 13th, 2012 from 3-5 and 7-9 pm.
