
Blethen, Charles Edward
Blethen, Charles Edward age 81 of Denville, NJ died Saturday November 9th, 2013 at the Compassionate Care Hospice St. Clare’s Dover Campus. Born in Hillside, NJ he has resided in Denville since 1954. Son of the late Alden J. and Mable E. (Duesel) Blethen, Charles was a graduate of the Kean University (Formerly Newark State College) 1971 receiving his degree in Education.
He was a life member of the Alpha Phi Omega fraternity. Charles was proud of the fact he was an eleventh generation American and throughout his life he and his wife joined many historical and heritage societies. He was a member of the Welsh Heritage and Mennonite Historical Societies, the Pike County Historical Society and the Bangor Heritage Society. Mr. Blethen worked as an Industrial Arts Teacher for the Wayne Board of Education George Washington Middle School for twenty seven years until his retirement in 1995. Through his career he was a long time member of the American Foundrymen’s Society and the Millennium Metallurgy Foundation. Charles was also a long time member of the Trinity Lutheran Church Dover, NJ.
Predeceased by a son Charles Derek Blethen, a brother Alden J. Jr. and two sisters June E. Hatfield and Dorothy Baldwin. Survivors include his loving wife of sixty-three years Faith C. (Eslick) Blethen, his son Mark “Randy” of Langley, WA, his daughter Kerrinne L. and her husband Tony Yezuita of Hamburg, NJ. Also surviving are his six grandchildren, three great grandchildren and twenty three nieces and eleven nephews.
Memorial Funeral Services will be held Saturday November 16th, 2013 at 10:00 AM “Sharp” in the Trinity Lutheran Church #123 E. Blackwell St. Dover, NJ 07801. The family respectfully requests memorial donations may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church. Arrangements are under the direction of the Smith-Taylor-Ruggiero Funeral Home One Baker Ave. (Rt. 46) Dover, NJ.
