Casco, Mario
Mario Casco of Rockaway, NJ passed away peacefully with his loving wife and son by his side on Saturday May 7, 2022 in Dover. He had shared 97 years of unconditional love, infectious laughter, and unforgettable memories with family and friends. Born and raised in Montevideo, Uruguay, Mario met his best friend and love of his life Alba, and were married in 1954. They emigrated to the United States in 1974 where he later became a proud US citizen. Mario and Alba lived in Wharton NJ, before moving to Rockaway NJ over 20 years ago to help raise their granddaughter. He was caring and kind, he loved having his home filled with family and friends. The proudest title that he had was that of Popoo.
Son of the late Blanca Nieves Casco, Mario was a hard-working man, retiring after many years working as a welder with Carbone Ferraz Inc of Rockaway. A devout and active member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church Dover, Mario had served as a Deacon and the Treasurer for many years. His favorite Bible passage being John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” “Pues Dios amó tanto al mundo, que dio a su Hijo único, para que todo aquel que cree en él no muera, sino que tenga vida eterna.”
A true soccer fan, avid fan of Nacional and La Celeste, he also enjoyed his many trips to the beach, camping with his friends as well as watching any action movie.
Mr. Casco was predeceased by his brother Juan Antonio Casco. Survivors include his beloved wife Alba Rosa (nee Cabrera) Casco, his beloved son Gus and his wife Michele Casco of Rockaway, his cherished granddaughter Alex Casco, his sister-in-law Rosa Casco as well as his niece Alicia Casco and nephew Walter Casco.
