
Dean, Carl R. Sr.
Dean, Carl R. Sr. age 88 of Randolph, NJ died peacefully Friday December 11, 2015 at the Compassionate Care Hospice Dover Campus following a long illness. Born in Mt. Arlington, NJ, Mr. Dean had lived in Dover and Roxbury Twp. before moving to Randolph 37 years ago.
Son of the late Raymond and Elizabeth (Lawrey) Dean, Carl proudly served in the United States Army during WWII. He had worked as a Miner in the Rockaway mines. He later worked as a loading dock specialist for Tredway Express for 20 years and then worked at the Randolph Twp. Recycling Center for many years until his retirement.
Carl was a member of the Teamsters Union. He was an avid sports fan who loved watching any kind of sports on television. Mr. Dean was pre deceased by a daughter Linda A. Lanterman, his brothers Raymond, Douglas and Harry Dean, two sisters Louise Gardner and Mabel Palmer as well as a son-in-law Arthur J. Hiltz.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 68 years Bessie M. (Searfoss) Dean, his sons Carl R. Jr. and his wife Jennifer of Budd Lake and Michael J. and his wife Susan of Hopatcong. Also surviving are his daughters Sharon L. and her husband Robert Palmer of Lake Shawnee and Robin Hiltz of Randolph, his sister Elizabeth Smith of Roxbury, as well as his 11 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday December 16th, 2015 at 10:30 AM in the Smith-Taylor-Ruggiero Funeral Home One Baker Ave. (Rt. 46) Dover, NJ. Interment will immediately follow in the Succasunna Presbyterian Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Funeral Home Tuesday December 15th from 3-5 and 7-9 PM. In lieu of flowers memorials in Carl’s memory may be made to the Leukemia Foundation www.leukaemia.org
