
Van Dright, Everett James Jr.
Van Dright, Everett James Jr. age 91 of Denville, NJ passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family Saturday September 9, 2023 following a brief illness. Born in Jersey City, NJ, Everett grew up and had lived many years in Staten Island, NY. He had also lived in Stillwater, NJ before moving to Denville, NJ over forty years ago.
Son of the late Everet and Carrie (nee Osinski) Van Dright, Everett had proudly served in the United States Navy during the Korean War as a Machinist Mate 2nd Class. After his military service, Everett graduated Police Academy and became a New York City Police Officer, retiring in 1977 after twenty years of dedicated service. For ten years following his retirement, He served as a Security Guard with the Parsippany Hilton.
A loving and kind man, Everett had a wonderful sense of humor and was always smiling and laughing. With a passion for traveling, he enjoyed Europe, cruising and returning to all the ports he had been in when serving in the Navy. Everett loved animals especially his horses and dogs.
Mr. Van Dright was predeceased by his brother Edmund Van Dright. Survivors include his wife Nellie (nee DeVisser), his daughters Kim, Korey, Karleen, Kris and Kari, from his first wife, Lorna; his step daughters Ruth and Jennifer, his step son William as well as his many grand and great grandchildren.
Memorial visitation will be held Thursday September 14, 2023 from 930 to 1130 AM with Memorial Services and Military Honors at 1130 AM in the Smith-Taylor-Ruggiero Funeral Home – One Baker Ave. (Rt. 46) Dover, NJ 07801.
