Son of the late John J. and Ruth (Karrick) Fitzgerald, John was a graduate of the St. Patrick High School Elizabeth. Mr. Fitzgerald was currently a project manager for Interstate Electric/Enclave Builders, Inc. Chatham, NJ. A loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather, he was also a member of the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick Morris County, NJ, a dedicated NY Jets fan as well as a talented handyman.

John was pre deceased by his brothers Gerald and Daniel. He leaves to cherish his memory: his beloved wife Kate; his son Matthew S. and his wife Arlisse stationed at Pearl Harbor, HI; his daughters Stephanie E. and Corinne K. Fitzgerald both of Rockaway as well as his precious grandchildren Isabella and Matthew Jr. His neighbors and friends paid this tribute to him, “John was the best friend we had, never hesitating to lend a hand and be there for us. He will truly be missed.”

Visitation will be held Thursday July 20, 2017 from 6 to 9 PM in the Smith-Taylor-Ruggiero Funeral Home One Baker Ave. (Rte. 46) Dover, N.J. Graveside Funeral Services will be held Friday July 21st at 11:00 AM in the Gate of Heaven RC Cemetery Ridgedale Ave. East Hanover, NJ. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation www.wish.org.
