As a Sergeant in the WACs, Emily met her husband, Hank, while they were both serving in World War II. Emily worked as a beautician and was the owner of Emily’s Beauty Shop on Baker Street in Dover. Active in her community, she was a member of the Byram Bay Christian Church, the Morris County Republican Women’s Club, Wharton American Legion, and could be found any place that had Bingo.

Predeceased by her parents Albert and Mary (George) Allen, her beloved husband Clarence F. “Hank” Gaffney, and her two brothers and two sisters, Emily is survived by her loving son Mark A. and his wife Susan Gaffney of Hopatcong, NJ, and her three grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Friday, February 27th from 3-5 and 7-8 PM at the Smith-Taylor-Ruggiero Funeral Home, One Baker Avenue (Route 46) Dover, NJ 07801. Funeral services will follow at 8pm on Friday. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
