An Air Force MP during the Korean War, Charles was self-employed as the owner and operator of his heavy equipment repair and sales business. He was an entrepreneur in the construction and heavy equipment industries, working in the New York area as well as Central America. He also enjoyed going on cruises.

Predeceased by his parents, Manuel and Anna (Johnson) Martin and his sister Irene Martin, Charles is survived by his sons Robert and wife Joanne Martin of San Diego, CA and William and wife Patricia Martin of Tucson, AZ. Also surviving are his five loving grandchildren Dylan, Mariah, David, and Christopher Martin, as well as one great-grandchild Elizabeth Martin.
