Daughter of the late Henry G. and Constance R. (Raab) Carsten, she was a graduate of the New Dorp High School, Staten Island, NY and was later graduated from New York University receiving her Bachelor’s Degree in 1946.

Mrs. Meyer worked for 20 years as a Legal Secretary for the law offices of Dwyer, Connell & Lisbona in Montclair until her retirement in 1998. A former member of the First Lutheran Church, Montclair, Eleanor was also a volunteer and active member of the American Red Cross Montclair Chapter for many years.

Predeceased by her beloved husband Herbert R. Meyer in 1967, survivors include her son Richard H. Meyer, of Montclair, her daughters Marilyn A. Roberts of Budd Lake, and Karen M. Roth of Rockaway. Also surviving are her sister Nancy C. Peterson of Newtown, CT as well as her four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Memorial graveside services were held privately in the Mt. Hebron Cemetery Montclair, NJ. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Red Cross Montclair Chapter #63 Park St. Montclair, NJ 07042.
