Norma A. Cifuentes Ponciano

 In Obituary Dover NJ

Norma A. Cifuentes Ponciano was born on January 28, 1961 to Estela Escobar and Oscar Cifuentes in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala. Ever since she was little, she had a passion for business. She would earn enough money to buy her own books and supplies for school. Going to an all-women’s high school, she went on to become a pre-school teacher once she graduated. Afterwards, she went to college, where she obtained her medical degree and became a primary doctor. Norma moved to America with her brother Jaime in 1985 and remained in California for a few months. Soon after, they decided to move to Atlanta, where she became pregnant with her first son.

Before the birth of her son Yeison, she moved back to Guatemala, once again returning to the United States in 1991, where she settled in Morristown, New Jersey, and started her own business. There she met the love of her life, Juan. They had their first daughter Jenifer. A few years later their twins, Amy and Oscar were born, and they got married shortly after on September 5, 1996. The family moved into their forever home in 2004.

Norma took pride in raising her children while also running her business full-time. She was nominated businesswoman of the year both in 2012 and 2017. Everyone who knows her, knows there was nothing she couldn’t do. Everything she set her mind to, she accomplished. Aside from business, her other passion was cooking. You could always find her in the kitchen with a smile on her face, making more than enough food for her friends and family.

Norma is survived by her parents; Estela R. Escobar and Oscar E. Cifuentes; her husband, Juan; her children, Yeison, Jenifer, Amy and Oscar; her grandchildren Olivia and Henry; her brothers, Jaime and Sergio and the beloved family pets, Nena and Moose. She will be dearly missed.

Visitation will be held Saturday December 10, 2022 from 3 to 7 PM in the Salvation Army #95 Spring Street Morristown, NJ 07960. Entombment will follow in Norma’s hometown in Guatemala at a later date. Arrangements under the direction of the Smith-Taylor-Ruggiero Funeral Home One Baker Ave. (Rt. 46) Dover, NJ.

(Rt. 46) Dover, NJ.
