Papastavrou, Evangelia, age 90 of Dover passed away Friday December 4, 2020 at the Saint Clare’s Medical Center Dover Campus following a brief illness. Born in Argos Orestikon, Kastoria. She along with her husband Naoum, daughter Stavroula (age 10) and son Stavros (age 1) emigrated to the US in 1967. Evangelia has always been a devout Christian. She was active in several local Greek Orthodox parishes—Ss. Constantine & Helen, Orange, 1967-1972; St. George, Clifton, 1972-1980 and in St. Andrew since the early 1980s. Devoted to her family, Evangelia resides with her daughter and son-in-law since the death of her own husband, Naoum in 2001. She makes friends very easily and is always interested in helping others in any way she can.
A loving and devoted wife, mother who would always put the needs of her family and friends before hers. Evangelia was a kind hearted and loyal person as well as an exceptional grand and great grandmother. If there was one thing you can say her heart was full of love.
Evangelia was predeceased by her beloved husband Naoum Papastavrou in 2001. Survivors include her children Stavroula and husband Nicholas Tsemberlis and Stavros Papastavrou and wife Eleni Axiotis , her grandchildren Katina and husband Pantelis Genouzos, George Tsemberlis, and Evangelia and husband Tripp Adams, Demi Papastavrou and Michael Papastavrou. Also surviving are her great grandchildren Nicholas and Leonidas Genouzos, Abigail and Sophia Adams.
Visitation will be held Tuesday December 8, 2020 from 945 to 10 AM with Funeral Mass beginning at 10 AM in the Saint Andrews Greek Orthodox Church #1447 Sussex Turnpike Randolph, NJ. Interment will immediately follow in the Locust Hill Cemetery Dover, NJ.
