Sampson, Tomas, 86 of Wharton, New Jersey, passed away on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at Saint Clare’s Hospital Denville, NJ after a brief illness. Born and raised in La Ceiba, Honduras, Central America.
Son of the late Doroteo Sampson and Juana Galeas de Sampson, Tomas was owner of Wharton Mini-Mart for over 15 years, retiring in 2005. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Tomas was happiest during our large family gatherings. He was a soccer enthusiast; and enjoyed cooking, dancing, and music. He was devout Catholic, a kind, compassionate, and giving man.
Mr. Sampson is survived in life by his beloved wife of sixty-eight years Luz Argelia (Reyes) Sampson, his five children: Esther and her husband Carlos Ballesteros of Henryville, PA; Luz Marina and her husband Feliciano Nieves of Henryville, PA; Tomas G. and his wife Luz V. of Wharton, NJ, Oscar and his wife Tracey of Virginia Beach, VA; and Iris A. and her husband Jeffrey Zahratka of Virginia Beach, VA; cherished grandchildren Nydia, Monica, Socorro, Andrew, Kevin, Kelly, Gabriella, Alec, and Tomas A.; great-grandchildren Zoey Rene, Durel Adam, Olivia Rose, and Stella Avaline. He is predeceased by his beloved grandchildren Adam Renee and Andrea Nicole.
