William Charles Sostak Jr., Dover resident William “Bill” C. Sostak Jr, 81, passed away peacefully on Sunday November 1st at his home. He was born on October 4th, 1939 in Newark, NJ and graduated from East Side High School. He proudly served in the United States Navy on active duty from 1958-1962 serving aboard the USS Franklin D Roosevelt during the Bay of Pigs evacuation. Afterwards, he was transferred to the Naval Reserve.
As a young kid he spent a lot of his time at the Jersey shore. He enjoyed fishing, clamming and crabbing very much in Neptune, NJ. He married Alice (Plazola) in 1961 and moved to Dover, NJ in 1967. He and his family would enjoy visiting different places in the United States and around the world.
He was a wonderful husband and father who spent time with his children playing baseball, fishing, teaching them handy work around the house or machines. He loved to cook and travel. He was a huge Boston Red Sox fan.
He was a master machinist working for Microlab for over 20 years. After his retirement, he would spend his time enjoying nature from his porch doing puzzles and Sudoku.
He was a joyful and generous grandfather. He liked to share his experiences in the Navy and his hobbies like Sudoku. He was always making jokes and kept a cheerful spirit, making everyone feel comfortable around him.
Bill is survived by his wife Alice Sostak; his oldest daughter Beverly Cotis and husband Jim Cotis and their children Brandon and Devin; his oldest son William Sostak and wife Kim Robinson and their daughter Skylar; his youngest son Robert Sostak and wife Elsy Sostak and their children Sophia and Sydney. His cousin Susan Morris from Arlington, Virginia. His lifelong friend Irene Spirock from Denton, Texas. His sister in law Olivia Villalobos from Las Vegas, Nevada.
