Richard A. Trettau, age 79 of Bradenton, FL passed away peacefully on Sunday April 17, 2022 at his daughter’s home in Oak Ridge, NJ surrounded by his loving family. Born and raised on Staten Island, NY Richard then moved to NJ where he raised his family in Roxbury Twp. He relocated to Florida in 1994.
Son of the late Ernest W. and Mildred M. (nee Mitchell) Trettau. Richard was a graduate of Curtis High School, Staten Island, NY. Class of 1960. He had proudly served in the United States Army National Guard from 1961 to 1964 then continued in the active reserves. In Florida he owned and operated an AAMCO Transmission prior to venturing into the world of real estate. He became a Real Estate Broker and started his own agency, Florida Homes of Your Dreams which he ran in Bradenton, FL until recently.
Richard was an automobile enthusiast who also enjoyed classic car restoration. Golf was also a pastime he enjoyed with his brother and friends. He was a social guy who loved to connect with his many friends, some from his grammar school days, and associates over lunch. He always liked to have a good time and found the fun in all he did. He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Richard was predeceased in life by his beloved wife Carol A. (nee Conlan) of 56 years in 2021 and his son Michael R. Trettau in 1967. He is survived by his loving daughters Wendy A. Hansen of Lake Hopatcong, NJ and Amy and her husband Charlie Kerr of Oak Ridge, NJ. Also surviving are his cherished grandchildren Cole and Chayse Hansen and Kailyn and Logan Kerr, his brother Ronald and his wife Leslie Trettau of Palmetto, Fl and his sister Janet Trettau of Bradenton, FL as well as several nieces and nephews.
Memorial visitation will be held Wednesday April 20, 2022 from 5-7:30PM with Memorial Services beginning at 7:30PM in the Smith-Taylor-Ruggiero Funeral Home, 1 Baker Ave. (Rt. 46) Dover, NJ. Online condolences through www.smith-taylor-ruggierofuneralhome.com
