Walter C. Wolczak, devoted husband, father and grandfather,76 of Hopatcong, N.J. passed away peacefully at home Friday September 10, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Wilkes Barre, PA. he spent his younger years in Old Forge, PA and Caldwell, N.J. before moving to Hopatcong, N.J. where he resided for the past 43 years. Son of the late Edward Wolczak, Sr. and Mary Wysocki-Wolczak.

Walter was a standout pitcher in high school, a Viet Nam war era veteran serving the United States Air Force. He was employed for the United States Postal Service as a postal worker in West Caldwell, N.J. for 42 years, retiring in 2013. He was an avid sports fan, a lifelong NY Yankees fan, as well as a NY Giants and Devils fan. He was a member of the Postal Workers Union. He was a parishioner of St. Michaels RC Church in Netcong, N.J. He enjoyed playing softball on the U.S. Postal Workers Team out of Caldwell, N.J. And was a major fan of crosswords.

Predeceased by his loving wife of 40 years Phyllis in 2013, and his mother Mary and father Edward Wolczak, and brother Edward. Survivors include his son Michael C. and his wife Rachel of Oakland, N.J., his daughter Christine M. Wolczak of Hopatcong, N.J., One grandson Benjamin Wolczak of Oakland, N.J.

Memorial visitation will be held Saturday September 18, 2021 from 3-6 p.m. at the Smith-Taylor-Ruggiero Funeral Home One Baker Ave. (Route 46) Dover, N.J. 07801 with funeral services at 5:30 p.m. Online condolences at www.smith-taylor-ruggierofuneralhome.com Due to Covid 19 elevating numbers, masks will be required.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Lung Association or the American Diabetes Association
