Services Offered
Smith – Taylor-Ruggiero Funeral Home offers three kinds of funeral service: Traditional, Memorial and Cremation. The expressed wishes of the deceased as well as their kin determine what the best way to proceed with the funeral. Most often the body is the focal point of the funeral service, sometimes with an open casket, sometimes with a closed casket. The presence of the loved one, although deceased, seems to often bring comfort when it’s time to say goodbye.
However, that does not always have to be the case. Sometimes, a body is not present. Other times the service can take place before or after a cremation.

At a traditional service, depending on the cultural and religious protocol, the deceased is on view during visitation of friends and family and at the service as well. However if the family prefers, visitation and funeral service may occur with a closed casket. The choice is always made by the family either through their decision or through a prior decision expressed by the deceased.

This type of service occurs when the deceased is not present. It can take place at the funeral home, religious institution or even at a more casual location, such as a friend’s or family’s home, and sometimes even in a park. When the deceased had more than one location where loved ones were left behind, a memorial ceremony can be held in a city or country that is not in close proximity to the actual funeral.

For some, cremation is the best option. The cremation can take place before or after the funeral or memorial service. The final destination of the cremains may be in the family burial plot, or at sea or an urn to serve as a continual reminder. Keepsake urns are available so that more than one member of the family may have a remembrance of the departed.

People are concerned about the long-term effects of the products they purchase, the vehicles they drive, and the amount of resources they are consuming. The Smith-Taylor-Ruggiero Funeral Home has offered nature-friendly alternatives to the traditional funeral since our opening. We have always, and will continue to, offer an array of natural alternatives.

An important part of the funeral is to determine what vessel will contain the remains of the body. At Smith-Taylor-Ruggiero, we help with that process. We have a wide selection of caskets, vaults and urns. Our display room is laid out to give families the opportunity to see and touch our high quality merchandise.
